LAHORE ; The Lahore High Court has suspended an order directing Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari to appear in person before the trial court for cross-examination on her statement in the fake video case. The court also suspended the execution of her arrest warrants and directed the trial court to continue proceedings against the other witnesses. Justice Abhar Gul Khan of the Lahore High Court heard the petition filed by Uzma Bukhari. Her counsel, Ali Zahir Bukhari and Barrister Musa, argued that the fake video case was pending before the trial court and that, given her position as a senior government official, she faced security concerns that made her personal appearance difficult. The counsel informed the court that the trial court had directed Bukhari to appear for cross-examination on her statement. However, despite the matter being pending before the Lahore High Court, arrest warrants had been issued against her due to her non-appearance, which they termed unlawful. The petitioner's lawyers requested the court to set aside the order requiring her personal appearance and allow her cross-examination to be conducted through video link. After hearing the arguments, the Lahore High Court suspended the order requiring Bukhari to appear personally for cross-examination and halted the execution of her arrest warrants. The court further directed the trial court to record the statements of the remaining witnesses and continue proceedings to that extent.
