SIFC Facilitates Financial Agreement of Challenge SEZ Lahore Phase-I, Advancing Pakistan's Industrial Investment Agenda
ISLAMABAD: The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) marked another significant milestone in Pakistan's investment and industrial development journey by facilitating the successful signing of financing agreements for the first phase of the Challenge Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Lahore, at a ceremony held at the Prime Minister's Office, Islamabad.
Secretary SIFC, Mr. Jamil Ahmad Qureshi commenced the ceremony by highlighting the significance for SEZs development in Pakistan and assured continued support from SIFC.
Federal Minister for Planning, Developing and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhter witnessed the signing ceremony.
The signing ceremony celebrated the successful completion of the financing arrangements for Phase-I of the Challenge SEZ Lahore project, developed by Challenge Fashion (Pvt.) Limited (CFL). With the financing documentation finalized and executed by the participating financial institutions, the project has achieved financial close, paving the way for the commencement of large-scale development activities.
Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal while speaking on the occasion said that Pakistan and China are working continuously to further boost their economic relations. Investments from Chinese companies in Pakistan are on increase.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhter on the occasion expressed his pleasure over the latest development and expressed his optimism to continue the same.
The ceremony brought together senior representatives of Challenge Group and leading financial institutions, including The Bank of Punjab, Pak China Investment Company Limited, Habib Metropolitan Bank Limited, Bank of Khyber, BankIslami Pakistan Limited, and Pak Libya Holding Company Limited. Their collective participation reflects strong confidence in Pakistan's improving investment climate and the commercial viability of strategically important industrial projects.
The successful financial close of Challenge SEZ Lahore underscores SIFC's continued commitment to facilitating high-impact investments by bringing together government institutions, private investors, and financial partners under a coordinated, investor-friendly framework. Through its whole-of-government approach, SIFC has been instrumental in removing procedural bottlenecks, improving institutional coordination, and accelerating the implementation of projects of national economic significance.
Challenge SEZ Lahore is envisioned as a modern industrial hub that will promote export-oriented manufacturing, attract domestic and foreign investment, generate substantial employment opportunities, and strengthen industrial value chains.
