KARACHI, July 27: President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday chaired a high-level meeting to review the progress of various Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and cooperation initiatives between the Government of Sindh and Chinese companies, directing authorities to expedite the implementation of agreed projects and complete all remaining procedural and technical requirements without delay.

The meeting, held at the Chief Minister’s House, was attended by Chinese delegations from Anhui Nengtong New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. and Luoyang Modern Biology Group. Facilitated by the China-Pakistan-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion Association, the session assessed the implementation status of previously agreed initiatives and discussed measures to accelerate their execution.

President Zardari was briefed on progress in several areas of cooperation, including electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, veterinary biological vaccines, animal identification and traceability systems, agricultural technology, healthcare, fire safety equipment and other sectors. Officials also outlined the Sindh government’s efforts to coordinate with Chinese companies and facilitate project implementation.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening ties with China, President Zardari said the government was providing full support and facilitation to Chinese businesses and investors. He noted that Pakistan highly values its All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership with China and remains committed to expanding economic collaboration under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), particularly under the framework of CPEC 2.0.

He added that his regular visits to China reflected Pakistan’s resolve to deepen bilateral relations and promote mutually beneficial economic cooperation.

During the briefing on cooperation with Anhui Nengtong New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., the President was informed about the company’s interest in manufacturing and supplying EV charging stations and developing related infrastructure in Sindh. Discussions also covered solar-storage-charging facilities, energy storage solutions, smart charging networks, technology transfer and capacity-building initiatives.

President Zardari said Karachi and Hyderabad offered significant potential for EV infrastructure development, while the Karachi-Hyderabad M-9 Motorway could serve as an important starting point for an intercity charging network. He expressed confidence that the collaboration would support Pakistan’s transition towards green mobility and contribute to the development of the country’s new energy sector.

The meeting also reviewed progress on cooperation between the Government of Sindh and Luoyang Modern Biology Group in the fields of veterinary biological vaccines and animal identification and traceability. Officials presented a roadmap that includes the ongoing visit of the Chinese delegation, a planned visit by a Sindh Institute of Animal Husbandry delegation to China in August, and technical collaboration on the Sindh-08 strain of foot-and-mouth disease.

The President was informed that vaccine trials in both China and Pakistan are expected to conclude by November 2026, after which project costs and implementation timelines will be finalised.

Appreciating the cooperation between the Sindh government and the Chinese company, President Zardari said the initiatives would strengthen veterinary disease prevention, improve livestock management, enhance disease control and bolster food safety.

He directed that all remaining procedural and technical requirements be completed at the earliest to ensure timely implementation of the agreed initiatives.

President Zardari also observed that developing a modern animal track-and-trace system, coupled with cooperation in disease diagnosis and vaccine development, would improve livestock management and enhance the export competitiveness of Pakistan’s livestock and livestock products.

Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, Senator Saleem Mandviwala, provincial ministers, senior government officials and members of the Chinese delegations attended the meeting.
